The United Nations has declared 2010 International Year of Biodiversity. It is a celebration of life on earth and the value of biodiversity to our lives. The world is invited to take steps in 2010 to safeguard the diversity of life on earth: biodiversity.
We celebrate the International Year of Biodiversity. Biodiversity is the variety
of life on Earth. It is essential for the maintenance of natural living systems or
ecosystems that provide us with food, fuel, health, wealth, and other vital services.
Humans are part of biodiversity, too, and have the power to protect or destroy.
Currently, our activities destroying biodiversity at an alarming rate. These losses
are irreversible, impoverishes us all the support systems of life that we need.
But we can protect it. We must reflect on our achievements to back
biodiversity and focus on the pressing challenges ahead. It is now time to act.
