2010, YEAR OF BIODIVERSITY
The United Nations have declared 2010 the International Year of Biodiversity (IYB) and Biodiversity Day or the International Day of Biological Diversity (BD)or (IDB) will be celebrated on May 22 and it is on Saturday in all countries around the world.
All nations are invited to celebrate this day. AFEYD, environmental structure of young people from CONGO will celebrate this day in partnership with Big global structures, two activities are envisaged:
1 / - The planting of tree in Kinsoundi area in the school LOANGO Marine.
2 / - Environmental education in the area of ORSTOM Chateau d'eau quarter ( in evening) in partenriat with Green Wave. NOTE : All these activities have been made in Brazzaville with the participation of school la Médiane,Solar Africa society.
HISTORY OF THE CELEBRATION OF DAY OF THE BIODIVERSITY
The day of biodiversity began to be celebrated from the International Biodiversity Convention signed between the UN and Green Wave, an environmental education structure from Canada. Since schools, young people groups and other community members affiliated to Green Wave celebrated every year on May 22 the day of biodiversity through awareness raising, tree planting and environmental education.
Following negotiations between CBD Secretariat and United Nations to make this day international around the world, the United Nations have accepted and declared 2010 Year of Biodiversity and on May 22 the Day of biodiversity will be celebrated but this time globally,international day. And it will be the first time that this day will be celebrated worldwide. All countries, media are motivated
So 2010 is a happy year for all living species and appointments in 2011, the year of forest.

So what is biodiversity?: All living species that exist on our planet and the diversity of natural ressources.

We celebrate the International Year of Biodiversity. Biodiversity is the variety
of life on Earth. It is essential for the maintenance of natural living systems or
ecosystems that provide us with food, fuel, health, wealth, and other vital services.
Humans are part of biodiversity, too, and have the power to protect or destroy.
Currently, our activities destroying biodiversity at an alarming rate. These losses
are irreversible, impoverishes us all the support systems of life that we need.
But we can protect it. We must reflect on our achievements to back
biodiversity and focus on the pressing challenges ahead. It is now time to act.

MAY, 22nd CELEBRATION OF THE INTERNATIOANAL DAY OF BIODIVERSITY ( IDB):
AFEYD has celebrated the International Day of Biodiversity in primary school Loango Marine in Kinsoundi area in Brazzaville. An action of tree planting has been conducted and an environmental education has been made by questions asked by the school children on biodiversity. An animation was also done (a song on biodiversity was sung, a poem about the persecution of trees was recited, posters with the logo of 2010 were exposed. Schools (school la médiane and school Loango Marine) have joined AFEYD to celebrate this event.
